I hadn’t remembered that today was the first of the month until sitting down to write in my journal. Moreover, it’s the start of an entirely new season. Seeing the number one at the top of my page felt like an invitation.
As I wrote and reflected on the past Summer season, I recalled how life has had a sense of heaviness to it. In times of sadness or confusion, I often find clarity in creating a gratitude list. It’s a practice that I want to practice more.
1. Delightfully pudgy feet finding balance in the grass for the first time

2. Before bed cuddles from the sweetest dog
3. Flowers…always flowers

4. Evening campfires and movie nights

5. Friday morning trips to the library with August
6. New catechism practice…
What is our only hope in life and death?
That we are not our own but belong to God.
Maybe my list will encourage you to create your own as we head into perhaps the most lovely of seasons, Autumn.
